Financial support for accommodation outside the home during vocational school lessons

If accommodation outside the home is necessary because the daily commute between home and vocational school is unreasonable, vocational school students can receive financial support.

The total daily travelling time between the main place of residence, the vocational school and back again, including travelling and waiting times when using public transport, is decisive for the entitlement to financial support.

The following minimum values apply:

  • at least 180 minutes for vocational school students,
  • at least 130 minutes for vocational school students with a disability.
