Chemnitz is already a green city. To keep it that way, new trees need to be planted regularly in public green spaces and along the streets.

In addition, young trees require a special level of care, especially in their first few years. By donating a tree, you can support the city council's work to create a city full of trees.

You can contribute to the costs of planting and care with a donation of 50 euros or more. For donations of 250 euros or more, a sign with details of the donor and a personal dedication can be placed next to a selected donated tree. A tree donation is therefore also suitable as a gift or a lasting memory for loved ones. At the same time, you are doing something good for urban greenery and the quality of life.

The way to the donation tree:

Donation trees are young trees that have already been planted on streets or in green spaces in the city of Chemnitz.

  1. Select a free donation tree from our themed city map by clicking on the desired orange-coloured tree. Please take a look at the selected tree on site to make sure you really like it.
  2. Complete the online form and enter the location number of the tree in the form.
    If you select a tree in the themed city map, the tree number is already pre-filled in the form.
    If you only enter a town or district, a suggested location will be provided.
  3. Send the completed form by e-mail to: baumspende(at)stadt-chemnitz.de
    If you do not have an e-mail address, please print out the completed form and send it by post to: City of Chemnitz, Parks Department, SG 67.3 Tree Donation, 09106 Chemnitz
  4. If the desired tree is available for donation, you will receive a confirmation.
  5. You can make your donation once you have been notified of the reservation. Your donation is charitable and therefore tax-deductible. If the amount exceeds 300 euros, you will receive a donation receipt/certificate of donation; up to 300 euros, a bank statement will suffice as proof.
  6. As soon as your payment has been credited to the account, everything else will be organised. In accordance with Section 73 of the Saxon Municipal Code, your donation must be presented to and accepted by the City of Chemnitz Administration and Finance Committee as soon as possible. This may well take several weeks.
  7. Afterwards, the dedication sign will be made, if desired, and mounted on the sign holder near the tree.
    You will receive a digital certificate and information about its completion.
