Lord Mayor
Sven Schulze
On 11 October 2020, Sven Schulze was elected as the new Lord Mayor of the City of Chemnitz. With 34.88 per cent, he received the most votes of all five candidates in the second ballot.
The Chemnitz City Council elected Sven Schulze as mayor on 25 November 2020. He therefore already had all the rights and duties of a Lord Mayor on the following day.
After the election of the Lord Mayor became legally binding, Sven Schulze declared that he would officially take up the office of Lord Mayor on 12 March 2021.

Head: Mayor Ralph Burghart
Ralph Burghart, born in 1970, holds a degree in business administration. He studied economics and organisational sciences with a focus on business administration in public administration at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and at Arizona State University in Phoenix, USA.
After holding various positions as an officer in the German Armed Forces, he joined the Federal Employment Agency in 2003 and held several management positions there. These included Chairman of the Management Board of the Altenburg-Gera Employment Agency and Member of the Management Board of the Saxony Regional Directorate. Here, he was responsible for Human Resources, Controlling and Finance until the end of October 2018.
From 1 October 2018 to 31 March 2021, he was Head of Department 5 of the City of Chemnitz, and has been Head of Department 1 since 1 April 2021.
Ralph Burghart is married, has two children and lives with his family in Chemnitz.

Head: Mayor Knut Kunze
Knut Kunze is 52 years old and has been with the Chemnitz Police Department since 1992. Most recently, he was responsible for the work of the Chemnitz North-East police station with its approximately 200 employees.
He was elected Mayor of Department 3 at the City Council meeting on 15 June 2022 and took office on 1 September 2022.

Head: Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky
Dagmar Ruscheinsky, born in 1959, former head of the management staff at the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning, worked in Chemnitz for many years before her time in Berlin. In 1999, the German studies graduate and trained journalist began working for the Freie Presse in various management positions. In 2007, she moved to Stadtwerke Chemnitz, the predecessor of eins energie, where she worked until her move to Berlin in 2015.
She was elected by the city council in November 2021 and took office on 1 February 2022.

Head: Mayor Michael Stötzer
Michael Stötzer, born in 1972, has been Head of the Building Management and Structural Engineering Department since 2011. Prior to this, he had headed the Building Construction Office since 2009, where he had been Head of Department and Deputy Head of Office since 2007.
Stötzer, who graduated with a degree in architecture, worked in various architectural firms in Chemnitz until 2007. Stötzer lives in Chemnitz with his family, which includes two children.
He has been Head of Department 6 since 1 August 2015.
Secondary activities of the mayor
