The police regulations of the City of Chemnitz are adopted by the City Council and serve to ensure public safety and order in the City of Chemnitz.

The police ordinance regulates

  • behaviour that is harmful to the environment such as
    • unauthorised billposting, lettering, painting and car washing,
    • the keeping of animals and pollution caused by animals

    • the ban on feeding pigeons
  • behaviour on playgrounds and football pitches
  • protection from noise pollution such as
    • night-time rest, use of radios, loudspeakers, musical instruments etc., noise from event venues as well as house and garden work
  • public nuisances such as the use of recycling containers and other waste bins, aggressive begging and the burning of open fires
  • the affixing of house numbers.

Enforcement officers monitor compliance with the police regulations in the city's neighbourhoods at different times to ensure public safety and order.

For a clean city in which you can feel safe and comfortable, the police ordinance regulates the following fines for offences:

Throwing away litter: cigarette butts, chewing gum, bottles, paper, cardboard,...from EUR 10.00
Painting, decorating, littering in public placesfrom 20,00 EUR
Urinating in public places
from 60.00 EUR
Dogs must be kept on a lead, soiling through dog faecesfrom 60,00 EUR
