A look back: Chemnitz 2025 in pictures

Chemnitz 2025 presented around 2,000 events in five programme areas with 260 projects during the Capital of Culture year. A total of 731 partner organisations worked on the programme. Of these, 233 were international partners from 40 countries.

Chemnitz has welcomed thousands of national and international guests, demonstrating that the city has much more to offer than what meets the eye. The motto "C the Unseen" (German: Sieh das Ungesehene) has been fulfilled, but no longer applies - because Chemnitz is now an integral part of the map. Around two million people were part of 2025. Museums, theatres and cultural institutions saw record numbers of visitors, thousands more people came to the festivals and many took an active part in projects. There was something for young and old, for music enthusiasts, for sportspeople, for environmentalists, for craftspeople - the programme had something for everyone. And even after the official end of the title year, so much remains intact or new things have begun. The intervention areas, the Purple Path, Theatre of the World - to name just a few.
