Youth Culture Fund

Projects with a grant amount of up to €2,500:
30 April for projects in the current year
1 November for the following year

Spontaneous projects (up to €2,000): 
applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the planned start of the project

Key questions and answers:

  • Projects (time-bound initiatives) such as events, workshops or cultural experiments 
     
  • The main focus is on socio-cultural (cultural initiatives in which young people in particular have a say in what is done and which are open to everyone) or a project with an intergenerational, inclusive and integrative character, in which the target groups of children and young people are given priority
     
  • New and spontaneous ideas are preferred. 
     
  • The project must be open to the public. 
     
  • The project must be completed by 31 December. 
     
  • School projects are excluded. 
  • Young people are at the heart of the programme.
     
  • Participants can express their artistic creativity.
     
  • Educational content is delivered that is not tied to the school curriculum and arises spontaneously.
     
  • The focus is on ecology, sustainability and environmental protection.
     
  • The topic of ‘urban regeneration’ is explored.
     
  • It brings together several artistic disciplines, such as dance, singing and literature. 
     
  • Projects submitted by the deadlines of 1 November or 30 April are eligible for a maximum of 2,500 euros 
     
  • Spontaneous projects are eligible for a maximum of 2,000 euros 
     
  • A maximum of 90 per cent of total eligible expenditure will be funded. 
     
  • At least 10 per cent of the total costs must be contributed by the applicant.
     
  • The own contribution may take the form of: personal funds, sponsorship, other grants, admission fees, donations, etc.
     
  • The following do not count as a contribution from the applicant: voluntary work (or other services for which no money is paid) 
     

1. An application is submitted. 

2. Once the deadline has passed, the ‘Youth Culture Fund’ working group draws up a proposal for the Culture Committee, recommending which projects should receive funding.  

3. The City of Chemnitz’s Culture Committee decides whether to approve or reject the projects. 

4. Once a decision has been made, applicants will receive notification of whether their project has been approved or rejected.

5. The project takes place. 

6. Two months after the project: A statement of expenditure must be submitted (consisting of the financial statement and documentation of the project). 
 

  • Applications submitted by 30 April: A decision is expected in the third quarter (July–September) of the current year.
     
  • Applications submitted by 1 November: A decision will be made by the end of April of the following year.
     
  • Applications for projects planned at short notice must be submitted no later than 6 weeks before the planned start date of the project. Processing usually takes 2–4 weeks.
