History becomes visible in the cityscape
Anyone who follows in the footsteps of Chemnitz's history will learn about important changes, big ideas and deep ruptures. Not everything is still visible in Chemnitz's cityscape today. However, the aim of the information steles project is to bring the stories back to light.
From the oldest building still standing in Chemnitz city centre, the Red Tower, to almost forgotten buildings such as the Pauli Church and important squares such as Falkeplatz. We invite you to take a tour along the former city gates.
Sponsors wanted for more steles
The city is looking for sponsors for more steles and signs in the city area. Even a small amount can help to finance the steles, which cost around 2,500 euros, and make Chemnitz more informative.
