Grants to youth welfare organisations for children's and youth recreational activities

The City of Chemnitz provides grants for recreational activities for children and young people during the specified school holidays. The prerequisite is that the main residence is in the city of Chemnitz and the organiser is a recognised youth welfare organisation.

In accordance with these guidelines, the City of Chemnitz grants subsidies in the areas of independent youth welfare, social and social-medical services with the aim of

  • to enable equal social opportunities and equal participation in life in the community,
  • reduce individual hardship, disadvantage and marginalisation,
  • to maintain peaceful and democratic coexistence in the local community.

Subject-specific regulation

In addition to the specialist funding guideline, the Youth Welfare Committee decided on 23 March 2018 to apply the funding criteria of Section 74 SGB VIII for the area of youth welfare within the scope of services in accordance with Sections 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 52 and preventative assistance within the meaning of SGB VIII.
This regulates compliance with the requirement to employ specialist staff in accordance with Section 72 SGB VIII, including the prohibition of better employment in the financing of specialist staff, expenses for fees and voluntary work as well as the scope of funding in the area of administrative costs and material costs.

Own contribution

An appropriate own contribution must be made for all youth welfare services for which independent youth welfare organisations apply for funding in accordance with Section 74 SGB VIII.

When calculating own contributions in the various service areas, the options of independent youth welfare organisations to charge fees in selected service areas, such as in Sections 11 and 16 SGB VIII, are taken into account in accordance with Section 90 SGB VIII (flat-rate cost sharing). This is not permitted in Sections 13 and 14 SGB VIII.

Funding concept for the implementation of § 74 in conjunction with § 80 SGB VIII - funding of programmes offered by independent youth welfare organisations in the fields of action of §§ 11 - 14, 16 and 52 in conjunction with § 13 SGB VIII

As part of the annual planning of measures for the promotion of youth welfare services in accordance with Sections 11-14, 16 and 52 of Book VIII of the Social Code, the available budget funds are used in line with demand. If the available budget is not sufficient, the funding concept is applied.

Johanneum" Children and Youth Foundation

The "Johanneum" Children and Youth Foundation supports projects that primarily help children and young people, most of whom are on the dark side of life.

The aim is to promote social and communication skills and increase self-esteem.

Applications for grants from the foundation's assets can be submitted informally to the office. There is no legal entitlement to the granting of a subsidy.
