Civic engagement often takes place behind the scenes and is rarely recognised by the public. Volunteers form the backbone of our society. They donate time and energy to support and help others. Without them, many would be restricted and perhaps even unable to act. They enrich the lives of fellow human beings, most of whom are complete strangers.

Finding volunteers or working with volunteers can be a major challenge for associations and organisations. The Chemnitz Community Foundation supports you with ideas, projects and questions relating to civic engagement.
THANK YOU-Card
The DANKE-Card of the Bürgerstiftung für Chemnitz is intended to honour volunteer work in our city. With the card, volunteers from Chemnitz receive a thank you in the form of reduced admission prices, special events, guided tours and further training opportunities at municipal and private institutions and companies.
The card can be applied for each summer for the following year at the Bürgerstiftung für Chemnitz. Associations, organisations and initiatives are eligible to apply.

The Volunteer Centre will be happy to help you find a suitable volunteering opportunity. Here you will find information on volunteering opportunities and tips for your commitment.
The Volunteer Centre is a contact point that promotes voluntary work. The staff offer free information, advice and mediation if you want to get involved. Organisations are also advised and supported here. The Volunteer Centre also arranges further training opportunities for all volunteers and organisations.

Certificate "Committed in Chemnitz"
The certificate is awarded to people who have volunteered continuously over a long period of time or who have completed their many years of voluntary work. It serves, for example, to recognise and appreciate voluntary work on the occasion of anniversaries. The use of the city logo and the signature of the Lord Mayor and a representative of the applying organisation increase the appreciation.
Associations, organisations and initiatives are eligible to apply.
