Youth

The task of youth work, youth social work, educational child and youth protection and family education is to create the necessary conditions to promote the development of children, young people and families. The programmes are geared towards needs and are intended to encourage participation and co-determination.
Chemnitz offers a broad network of different youth welfare projects for young people and their families. In addition to a wide range of opportunities for interesting leisure activities, there are also various help and support programmes available for different life situations.
The city of Chemnitz is funding these youth welfare services provided by independent youth welfare organisations with around 11 million euros this year.
This is based on the City of Chemnitz's youth welfare plan for children, young people and families ( JHPL ).
Leisure activities / extracurricular youth education
Children's and youth leisure facilities and extracurricular youth education projects offer children and young people a space for experience and adventure to organise their own leisure activities. Independent youth welfare organisations offer varied and flexible programmes in these service areas in the city districts.

moreEducational child and youth protection
Children and young people are exposed to dangers in their development process that are not always clearly recognisable to them or their parents. The aim of youth protection is to inform children and young people, as well as parents, teachers, social workers and educators, about these dangers and to provide suggestions and advice on how such dangers can be averted.
