Residential centres, outpatient assisted living
Assisted living facilities for people with disabilities are a useful addition to the wide range of assistance on offer.
Disabled people live in their own home,for as long as their disability allows them to lead a self-determined lifestyle. The existing restrictions can be minimised through barrier-free design and furnishings.
In outpatient assisted living, the disabled person continues to live in private accommodation but receives the necessary assistance from social services.
If the degree of disability and the person's social environment make it necessary, the disabled person can live in a residential centre provided by the independent welfare organisations in Chemnitz. There may be waiting times or residential centres may be offered in the surrounding area.
Information can be obtained from the Chemnitz residential centres for disabled people or from the Specialist Disability Assistance Centre and the Social Services for Senior Citizens of the Social Welfare Office.
Workshops
Workshops for people with disabilities enable them to participate in working life. Vocational training and employment for remuneration commensurate with the work performed enable them to maintain, regain or increase their performance and earning capacity and promote their personal development.
