Integration assistance is provided to people with a significant mental, physical or psychological disability that is not only temporary (i.e. lasts longer than 6 months), who are significantly restricted in their ability to participate in social life due to this disability or are at risk of such a disability. It is intended to help them lead a largely self-determined life and compensate for the disadvantages caused by the disability.

Integration assistance benefits are provided upon written application. They are partly dependent on income and assets.

Personal budget

Disabled people can apply in writing to receive certain participation services provided for by law as a personal budget. This means that the person entitled to benefits receives the necessary financial resources and organises the required support themselves.

The citizens of Chemnitz can obtain advice on this from the "Benefits Centre for Integration Assistance for Disabled People or People at Risk of Disability" at the Social Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz.
