Economic development

Chemnitz is a city on the move. Everything is reinventing itself and working on the ideas of tomorrow - a city on the road to the future. Stagnation is unknown here. This upswing is particularly noticeable in the economy. For our entrepreneurs as well as investors and skilled workers from all over Germany and Europe, this flourishing business location is the first choice.
Its excellent reputation as a highly developed technology centre in the automotive and supplier industry, autonomous driving, mechanical and plant engineering and technical services extends far beyond the borders of Germany. Its reputation as an international centre for research and development, particularly in microsystems technology, also extends far beyond Germany's borders. Over 116,000 employees subject to social security contributions, 20% of whom are highly qualified, boost the economy every day. In just ten years, the number of companies has climbed to over 18,500 today.
Business division Economy
In order to be able to manage the complex projects of our entrepreneurs even better, the business division was created.
The business division is the interface between administration and business and helps you to solve complex problems such as company expansions, new buildings or relocations.
We take care of your concerns, accompany you on your way through the administration and establish contacts with authorities and institutions, universities and research facilities or associations.
The Business division will be happy to help you:

Chemnitz start-up counselling network

The Chemnitz start-up counselling network brings together the municipal and institutional start-up counsellors of the city of Chemnitz. Since 2002, the partners have regularly coordinated their counselling services with each other so that potential founders can find the right contact person as quickly as possible. In addition, the start-up counselling network organises joint event formats and provides support with a wide range of regional and national contacts.
