As a cooperative network, the regional skilled labour alliance is responsible for securing skilled workers in Chemnitz. Since its foundation in 2016, the stakeholders in the Skilled Labour Alliance have pursued the goal of close cooperation in order to make joint decisions on measures and projects. The individual expertise and interlinked network of each player form the basis for effective and efficient cooperation.

The legal basis for their activities is the directive of the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA) dated 30.04.20219 on the funding of projects to secure skilled workers (Skilled Workers Directive). The guideline defines the framework conditions and funding requirements for projects aimed at securing skilled labour.

The Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance is also guided by the Skilled Labour Strategy 2030 for the Free State of Saxony. Finally, the Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance's action plan rounds off the basis for joint cooperation between the stakeholders.

The Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance is coordinated by the City of Chemnitz's Business Division together with the Chemnitz Employment Agency.

Project applications

Project applications must be submitted to the Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance by post or email. The stakeholders of the Skilled Labour Alliance are responsible for the assessment and prioritisation. All necessary application forms can be found on theSAB Sächsische Aufbaubankwebsite. After the Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance has checked the eligibility for funding and assessed the project application, it will be forwarded to the SAB.

Note:

The Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance was allocated cash funds for regional projects and managed immigration projects as part of the 2023/2024 biennial budget for 2024. The SMWA does not expect the Saxon state parliament to pass a resolution on the 2025/2026 double budget until June 2025 at the earliest. As a result, budget allocations to the Chemnitz Skilled Labour Alliance can also be expected in the second half of 2025 at the earliest.

For project applications, this means that they can still be submitted to the Fachkräfteallianz Chemnitz, processed, prioritised and forwarded to the SAB, but a funding decision cannot be expected until the second half of 2025 at the earliest. Upon receipt of the project application, the project organiser will receive a confirmation of receipt with confirmation of an early start of the measure. As a result, the project can be started at the project organiser's own risk.

To this end, the Welcome Centre helps with many matters, such as finding accommodation and work, dealing with the authorities, searching for language courses and providing information on local childcare and leisure activities.
The Welcome Centre also assists regional employers with questions regarding the integration of international skilled workers.

The successful concept of recruiting skilled workers at events was also implemented by the City of Chemnitz's Business Division at the Wine Festival in 2024. Numerous companies took advantage of the opportunity to recruit skilled workers and employees during the wine festival on Jakobikirchplatz and talk to potential skilled workers in a relaxed setting.
