International Festival for Contemporary Dance

The whole of Chemnitz became a stage in June 2025 when the international festival for contemporary and urban dance moved the city and encouraged people to join in. Renowned companies from all over the world were guests to inspire the audience beyond the classical stages. With guest appearances, workshops and performances, they conquered the public space and brought dance into the centre of life.
The TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ festival set the European Capital of Culture in motion, opened up new perspectives in social interaction and became a mirror for a Europe full of stories and ruptures, points of friction and the spirit of the future. In the spirit of the Chemnitz Capital of Culture idea C the Unseen, the festival not only gave the urban scene a special stage, but also created unusual encounters in overlooked places in the city.
