#STATT BLUMEN - International Women's Day 2026

Orange Day on 25 November 2025: Chemnitz sends a visible signal against violence against women

On Sunday, 8 March 2026, the City of Chemnitz invites you to the event "#stattBlumen - Starke Frauen, starke Stadt. What do women really need to go their own way?". The event will take place from 2 to 5 pm at Stadtwirtschaft Chemnitz, Jakobstraße 46.

Flowers on Women's Day are a nice gesture - but they don't solve any real problems. In everyday life, women continue to face obstacles at work, in their families and careers or in terms of social recognition. Many of these issues often remain invisible.

Speaking at a panel discussion:

  • Sabrina Sadowska, Ballet Director, Chemnitz Theatre
  • Nora Seitz, Member of the German Bundestag
  • Dr Nicole Lorenz, Managing Director of axilaris GmbH
  • Franziska Herold, Equal Opportunities Officer for the City of Chemnitz

will talk about their own experiences and perspectives and give impulses on what women really need to be able to go their own way. The discussion will be moderated by Conny Hartmann.

Afterwards, a networking café with coffee and cake invites you to talk about topics that really move women. The programme is complemented by the "Utopia" future room, which opens up space for ideas and visions. The children's association's play mobile will be available for children.

Admission to the event is free. Registration is not necessary.
The rooms are barrier-free.

Social media campaign #insteadofflowers

This will be accompanied by a social media campaign under the hashtag #insteadofflowers. All women are invited to post what they would like to see instead of flowers on International Women's Day - from better career opportunities and fairer working conditions to more social recognition. This will make visible what really matters to women and stimulate dialogue about equality beyond the day of the event.
All interested parties are cordially invited to inform themselves, network and think together about a strong city for all.
