Museum night in Chemnitz and the cultural region
"United!" Chemnitz Museum Night 2025
Museums in Chemnitz and the region count more than 30,000 visits

The Chemnitz Museum Night 2025 is more than positive: the museums, galleries and institutions recorded more than 30,000 visits in total. Under the motto "United", guests experienced the offer in 50 museums, institutions and galleries with over 400 programme items in Chemnitz and the region. A total of 10,250 tickets were sold for the Museum Night, meaning that visitors visited an average of three museums.
By combining the city and the cultural region, the cultural landscape was broadly presented for the fourth time and the surrounding area was included. Two extra tours to destinations on the Purple Path, the art and sculpture trail of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, were also offered. The programme of the 24th Chemnitz Museum Night was opened in Tietz by Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky and with a circus performance by KLUB GIRKO.
The Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Haus, which only opened in April of this year, was packed with visitors right out onto the street. There was a modern presentation together with multimedia offerings.
Museum night visitors were also very interested in the current exhibition "The New City". For the Museum Night 2025, the Schloßbergmuseum presented itself together with the marvellous Schloßkirche church as an impressive backdrop for living city history and art. The guests lingered with interest over the photographs and models from the construction and planning phase for the new city of Karl-Marx-Stadt. Here it became very clear what changes have taken place in Chemnitz over the decades up to the present day.
The participating museums in the cultural region, such as the Zeitwerkstatt in Frankenberg, the Historische Schauweberei in Braunsdorf, the Esche-Museum in Limbach-Oberfrohna and the Textil- und Rennsportmuseum in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, also welcomed many interested visitors in perfect museum night weather.
A big and heartfelt thank you goes from the City of Chemnitz's cultural organisation to all those involved and all supporters of the Museum Night who contributed to the success of the event! More than 1,000 dedicated people behind the scenes ensured a great Museum Night.
The Museum Night 2026 is expected to take place on 9 May.
