Fire brigade
The city of Chemnitz's fire service includes the professional fire brigade, the volunteer fire brigades, the emergency medical services, the rescue service and the civil defence and disaster control services.

On the initiative of the City Council, the City of Chemnitz has established a Crime Prevention Council (KPR). The Prevention Council has the task of developing effective approaches to the prevention and avoidance of criminal offences. There are several projects for this purpose.
morePromotion of democracy
The city of Chemnitz is supported by the federal programme "Demokratie Leben! Active against right-wing extremism, violence and misanthropy" programme. The programme supports associations and institutions that are committed to democracy in a variety of ways.

If an increased number of complaints and defects are found in foodstuffs or in food-processing facilities, the Food Inspection and Veterinary Office should be called in.

The Food Monitoring and Veterinary Office provides important information for pet owners, e.g. on travelling with pets within and outside the EU as well as on farm animals and wild animals.
moreRegulatory offences
General administrative offences are unlawful, reproachable acts that violate a law (federal, state law or statute) that permits punishment with a fine. The range of fines is determined by the relevant specialised law or the Administrative Offences Act.
morePolice ordinance
The police regulations of the City of Chemnitz serve to ensure public safety and order in the City of Chemnitz. Among other things, it regulates behaviour that is harmful to the environment, behaviour on playgrounds and football pitches and protection against noise pollution.

In May 2014, a general decree was issued prohibiting the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the carrying of dangerous objects in the public green spaces "Am Wall", "Johannisplatz" and "Park am Roten Turm" in the city centre.
moreWarning app NINA
The city of Chemnitz uses the federal government's emergency information and news app - NINA for short. This enables interested parties to receive important civil protection alerts for various hazardous situations, such as evacuations due to a bomb being found, the spread of hazardous substances, a major fire or warnings of flooding on Chemnitz's 1st order rivers.

The winter service of the waste disposal and city cleaning service ASR is on duty around the clock with its vehicles in wintry conditions on the roads in the city area. Information on the winter service can be obtained by dialling 115 (Mon - Fri 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and by calling the ASR winter service hotline on 0371 4095-555.
