Information on property tax 2025
Recalculation of property tax from 2025
The Cash and Tax Office would like to inform you once again that the property tax notices sent by the City of Chemnitz before 31 December 2024 are no longer valid by law for payments in 2025.
From 2025, the property tax has been or will be recalculated. The property tax notices were therefore sent out from 8 January 2025.
Payments for 2025
Taxpayers are requested not to make payments for 2025 until they have received a 2025 property tax assessment notice.
If a standing order has been issued for the payment of property tax, this should be cancelled or adjusted on the basis of the 2025 property tax assessment notice.
As a precautionary measure, please note that any appeals lodged against the 2025 property tax assessment notices have no suspensive effect. The taxpayer is obliged to pay the tax on time as long as the 2025 property tax assessment has not been cancelled or amended. This also applies if an objection has been lodged with the tax office and a decision has not yet been made.
If you have any further questions, please first read the extensive explanations on the notice carefully and in full. Due to the large number of appeals and applications, there are currently longer processing times despite increased staff deployment.
Video on the implementation of the property tax reform
