Public notice of objection to data transfer
Public notice pursuant to Section 42(3) and Section 50(5) of the Federal Registration Act of 3 May 2013 (Federal Law Gazette I, p. 1084), as last amended by Article 5 of the Act of 3 July 2026 (Federal Law Gazette 2026 I No. 199)
Under Section 42 of the Federal Registration Act, the registration authority may transfer data to religious organisations governed by public law. If members of a religious organisation recognised under public law have family members who do not belong to the same organisation or to any religious organisation recognised under public law, the registration authority may also transmit the following information regarding these family members: first name and surname, date and place of birth, gender, membership of a religious community recognised under public law, current addresses and most recent previous address, restrictions on the disclosure of information pursuant to Section 51, and date of death. Family members are the spouse or civil partner, minor children and the parents of minor children.
The registration authority may also, pursuant to Section 50 of the Federal Registration Act, provide information from the register of residents for the following specific purposes:
- Information to political parties, voter groups and other bodies submitting lists of candidates in connection with elections and referendums at state and local level during the six months preceding the election or referendum. This concerns selected groups of eligible voters, the composition of which is determined by age. The information comprises surname, first names, academic titles and current addresses. The person or body to whom the data is transmitted may only use it for campaigning in an election or referendum.
- Information provided to elected representatives, the press or broadcasters regarding residents’ milestone birthdays or wedding anniversaries. Milestone birthdays are the 70th birthday, every fifth birthday thereafter, and every subsequent birthday from the 100th birthday onwards; wedding anniversaries are the 50th and every subsequent wedding anniversary. The information provided includes surname, first names, academic title, address, and the date and type of anniversary.
The data will not be disclosed if the data subject objects to this. Objections already submitted in previous years remain valid and do not need to be repeated.
The form to object to the disclosure of data is available from the Chemnitz Registration Office, at the city’s citizen service centres, and online at www.chemnitz.de.

Objections to the transfer of a data subject’s data must be addressed to the City of Chemnitz, Citizens’ Office, Registration Office, 09106 Chemnitz (Head office: Düsseldorfer Platz 1) or submitted at any of the City of Chemnitz’s citizen service centres.
