A large part of the services of general interest for the residents of the City of Chemnitz are provided by the organisationally and financially independent municipal companies, municipal enterprises, associated companies and special-purpose associations. They provide services in social, economic and cultural areas and thus make a significant contribution to the quality of life for citizens, businesses and guests.
With an average of 4,900 employees, the associated companies are a major employer. The economic activity of the City of Chemnitz generates a significant proportion of the municipal economic power.
Investment report
For more than 20 years, the City of Chemnitz has been presenting the current economic development of the city's diverse portfolio companies to citizens, politicians and the administration in the form of the investment report. In total, the investment portfolio includes three municipal enterprises and 41 companies under private law - 19 directly and 22 indirectly.
