What to do in the event of flooding?

In an emergency, those affected have little time to react effectively. This makes it all the more important to know in advance what preparations need to be made and what behaviour makes sense in an emergency.

Provision of sandbags

The distribution of sandbags to residents affected by flooding is a voluntary service provided by the City of Chemnitz. This should only be utilised if private provisions are no longer sufficient.

Precaution

The Flood Competence Centre informs and advises citizens on taking precautions, flood-adapted construction methods and protection options for existing buildings.
