Environmental protection concerns us all
Our environment forms the basis of life for all living beings in this world. In areas with a high traffic and settlement density such as the city of Chemnitz, it is a special task to treat it with care. Environmental protection is the totality of all measures to protect our environment and serves to preserve our natural resources.
The change in our climate is becoming increasingly noticeable for all of us. Extreme weather situations are occurring in ever shorter periods of time. They are increasingly accompanied by severe storms and flooding. How we want to deal with this in the coming generations is one of the biggest current challenges. Our everyday lives are also constantly placing new demands on our behaviour. Dealing with the waste of our consumer society and ensuring clean air and water are associated with high technical and organisational costs. Noise as an environmental burden in urban centres is increasingly becoming an issue between different interest groups.
Nature and the landscape contain all the vital resources for us humans. It is our task to preserve these as the basis for human life and health, also in responsibility for future generations. We have a great responsibility to make life in this world worth living and to ensure a secure future for our descendants.
