ChemnitzPass



The City of Chemnitz issues a ChemnitzPass to Chemnitz residents with a low or no income. This entitles the holder to reduced prices for public and private services depending on the respective tariff regulations.
The ChemnitzPass can be obtained by people who
- are residents of the city of Chemnitz,
- have generally reached the age of 15,
- are unable to secure their own livelihood and therefore receive benefits for living expenses:
- according to SGB II (citizen's allowance) or according to the third or fourth chapter of SGB XII (social assistance, basic security in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity)
- or according to § 39 SGB VIII in conjunction with §§ 91 ff. SGB VIII
- or receive child benefit supplement in accordance with § 6a of the Federal Child Benefit Act
- or who are entitled to benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act and also have a residence allocation for the city of Chemnitz and live here
A ChemnitzPass K (ChemnitzPass Junior) is issued to children under the age of 15 who are in need of assistance.
Children who do not live in Chemnitz and have not yet reached the age of 18 will receive a ChemnitzPass K if one of their biological parents lives in Chemnitz and fulfils the requirements for obtaining a ChemnitzPass.
A ChemnitzPass K (ChemnitzPass Junior) is issued to children under the age of 15 who are in need of assistance.
Children who do not live in Chemnitz and have not yet reached the age of 18 receive a ChemnitzPass K if one of their biological parents lives in Chemnitz and fulfils the requirements for obtaining a ChemnitzPass.

Changed application procedure
On Thursdays, it is possible to visit the customer portal on the ground floor of the Moritzhof Citizens' and Administration Centre, Bahnhofstraße 53, without an appointment.However, a visit to the customer portal is not required for the issue or renewal of the ChemnitzPass.

Discounts
With the ChemnitzPass or ChemnitzPass K, holders receive discounts on certain municipal and other public services and offers. The amount of the discounts is specified in the respective fee regulations, price lists, etc.
Discounts can be granted for the following municipal and independent organisations:
- Art Collections, Natural History Museum, Schloßbergmuseum, State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz (smac),
- Games Museum, Industrial Museum, Railway Museum,
- Town hall and tower tours, exhibitions in Rabenstein Castle, exhibitions in the Grüna folklore centre,
- Special exhibitions in selected museums, theatre, opera house, puppet theatre, Chemnitz cabaret,
- Outdoor pools/ Oberrabenstein reservoir, swimming pools in the city of Chemnitz, ice rink,
- zoo/wildlife park, park railway, school biology centre,
- City library, adult education centre courses, music school
Discounts for the following municipal services:
- Issue of a residence entitlement certificate
- for passport holders up to the age of 18: 50% discount on the issue of the first identity card (not if lost!)
Reduction for participants in holiday camps, leisure activities etc.
If the provider of a holiday camp, leisure activity or similar receives a grant from the City of Chemnitz, pupils between the ages of 6 and 18 with a Chemnitz
Pass pay up to 25 euros less per day.
