Immission control

Noise, odours, air pollutants, vibrations, electromagnetic fields and much more are emissions. These emissions have an impact on our environment and on us humans and can be harmful to people and the environment. These are called immissions. Immission control is a set of measures that limits harmful effects on people and the environment.
Laws in conjunction with numerous ordinances, administrative regulations and technical regulations form the legal basis for the authorisation and monitoring of installations from which emissions can be released into the environment. In addition, these regulations contain provisions for determining emissions and immissions as well as numerous specifications regarding the nature of installations, substances, products, vehicles, etc.
Through a bundle of urban development, traffic and regulatory measures, which are presented in the Clean Air Plan (with map section) and the Noise Action Plan for the City of Chemnitz, the aim is to continuously and sustainably reduce the existing pollution levels in order to contribute to improving the quality of life in our city. Air quality monitoring can be viewed on the Internet. The strategic noise mapping forms the basis for targeted planning.
