Children
A child's healthy development requires our full attention and care from day one. In addition to the health aspects, there are also legal issues to consider, depending on the family situation. It is important to be informed before the birth of the child so that everything necessary for the family can be organised in good time.
moreChild and family centres (KiFaZ)
Children's and family centres (KiFaZ) are childcare facilities and places for parents. They offer all Chemnitz families a comprehensive free weekly programme with open meetings, parent-child courses, lectures, family leisure activities and counselling services, independent of childcare in the daycare centre.
moreChildcare
Parents in Chemnitz can choose whether to have their child looked after in a daycare centre run by the City of Chemnitz, an independent provider or by a childminder until the child reaches the age of three. The City of Chemnitz'sdaycare centre portal provides an overview of available places.
moreFurther offers for families
Throughout the city, clubs, welfare organisations and parishes invite families to take part in events for the whole family. In addition to playgroups, courses and themed afternoons, fathers, mothers and carers can get to know each other and talk about their everyday family life.

moreCounselling and assistance
When things get difficult, contact persons at the youth welfare office are on hand to offer counselling and support. The protection of children and young people is always at the centre of their work.
moreFamilyApp Chemnitz launched
Families, teenagers and young adults can find leisure, educational and support services conveniently on their mobile phones in the FamilienApp Chemnitz.
The digital platform is the first of its kind in Saxony. The guide section contains information on local offers by age (pregnancy to young adults) as well as numerous accompanying topics such as health or education, making it easier to find what you are looking for than searching on individual websites. News, emergency numbers and a download and video area round off the FamilyApp Chemnitz.
The calendar of events, which is also included, will advertise youth and family events with immediate effect, in the Capital of Culture year 2025 and beyond. Registered organisers - independent providers, external partners and also commercial providers in the leisure sector - currently offer more than 1,000 events.
No download from the app store is required; the web-based application can be opened as a website and simply saved to the home screen.
