Offers for families

The general promotion of upbringing in the family or family education is part of child and youth welfare according to § 16 SGB VIII. In addition to the children's and family centres as places of family education, there are numerous other offers in Chemnitz. They are available to all families in Chemnitz and are aimed at mothers, fathers and other legal guardians as well as their children.

The independent youth welfare organisations, which are funded by the City of Chemnitz via the Youth, Social Affairs, Health - FRL-JSG funding guideline, offer the following services for families in Chemnitz:

  • Parent-child/mother-child groups
  • Family meetings/family cafés
  • Open programmes
  • Family leisure and family recreation programmes
  • Thematic events
  • Counselling on general parenting and development issues for families

In addition, parents, those responsible for raising children, pregnant women and expectant fathers can obtain individual advice on parenting and development issues and information on other counselling services and opportunities in their district.

The family education services are clearly organised by district in the brochure "Chemnitz macht jung" (Chemnitz makes you young).
