The city of Chemnitz can provide several hundred places in flats and communal facilities for refugees from Ukraine at short notice.

This was announced by Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and Social Affairs Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky. The city is thus reacting to the situation in Ukraine.

"It is our natural duty to take in the refugees from Ukraine and help them," said Lord Mayor Sven Schulze. For this reason, Schulze continued, preparations had already begun on Friday and the city was in a position to help the refugees at short notice.

Social Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky emphasised that the city also wants to coordinate the many offers of help from the city community:

For example, citizens who want to offer accommodation can register using the form below. The Social Welfare Office will then respond to the offers as required.

"These offers from citizens are a wonderful addition to our range of accommodation and facilities. I would like to thank everyone who has already agreed to take in refugees from Ukraine at the weekend," says Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky.
