The DemenzNetz_C(hemnitz) was founded in January 2015 from the UnterstützungsnetzwerkPflege_C, which had been in existence since 2009. Stakeholders from public, independent and private organisations and services joined forces to represent the interests of dementia patients and their relatives in Chemnitz.

Targeted information is intended to sensitise the public to the concerns of people with dementia as a preventative measure. The removal of taboos in dealing with the topic should enable those affected to accept support at an early stage. DemenzNetz_C is the point of contact for people seeking help, but also for organisations and services that are confronted with the topic of dementia.

Needs-based support services are initiated and organised in order to maintain life in familiar surroundings for as long as possible, even with dementia.

People seeking help are given expert advice on making applications and on care, support and respite services.

Furthermore, relatives of dementia sufferers receive information on special services such as care facilities with sheltered living areas, residential groups for dementia sufferers, care services, day care, respite services such as visiting, support and care services. DementiaNet_C also provides support in organising this help.

Dementia counselling and consultation hours

The DementiaNet_C offers competent, neutral and free weekly counselling sessions. The aim is to provide support from a single source for those affected and their relatives in order to ensure good care.

DementiaNet_C also offers a dementia consultation in cooperation with the Geriatrienetzwerk_C "Gemeinsam fürs Alter" ("Together for old age"), away from a hospital or doctor's surgery.
