More than 85,000 people over the age of 60 live in Chemnitz. The city of Chemnitz has numerous offers for a pleasant retirement after an active working life. Competent services are also available in the event of illness and the need for care.

The City of Chemnitz guide for senior citizens offers help for an active and self-determined life as well as contacts to counselling and support services for senior citizens and their relatives. It is available as a download or in printed form at the administrative offices (Moritzhof, City Hall, Bürgerhaus am Wall) as well as at the citizen service centres and meeting places.

The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council is a body appointed by the City Council to represent the interests of older residents. It advises the city council on the special concerns of senior citizens. Public consultation hours are always held on the first Tuesday of the month from 2 to 4.30 pm in the Technical Town Hall.

Monthly "Consultation hour for senior citizens" in the Technical Town Hall

In the "Stadt-Schau-Fenster" room (Technical Town Hall, Friedensplatz 1), the consultation room of the City of Chemnitz Seniors' Advisory Council was opened in April 2022.

City councillors and other members of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council offer citizens the opportunity to talk to them and clarify their concerns.

Consultations always take place on the first Tuesday of the month from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm.
