Easter holidays in Chemnitz
From 3 to 10 April, schoolchildren in Saxony have their Easter holidays. To prevent boredom during the holiday period, we have put together some tips for things to do alone or with the whole family. These are not exhaustive and are subject to change.
We wish all holidaying children a happy and relaxing Easter!
Animal park and game reserve
The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in April, the game enclosure from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Traditionally, the Easter Bunny hides countless Easter eggs in the wildlife enclosure on Easter Sunday. This year too, he will be paying a visit on 5 April. From 10 a.m., young and old can search for the eggs in the extensive game enclosure.
Short guided tour: Spawning time in spring
6 April, from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. Zoo - meeting point at the Vivarium
Those interested can gain an insight into the reproduction and development of amphibians.

Playfully discover the animal world

With memory games, quizzes and puzzles, guests learn exciting facts about the habitats and food of the animal world as well as species conservation.
Making seed balls
11 April, from 1 to 4 p.m. - Wildlife Park School
Small balls are made from soil, clay and seeds to create flowering habitats for insects.

The park railway in Chemnitz Küchwald has changed its opening hours during the Easter holidays:

The Easter Bunny will be travelling through the Küchwald in person and handing out chocolate bunnies to the little passengers while stocks last.

Monday, 6 April, 2 p.m.
The family tour on Christian customs in Saxony will answer questions such as why we celebrate Easter and why the rabbit brings the eggs and not the hen.

The Red Tower as a bedside lamp
For the new special exhibition "fit. A Saxon success story", children on holiday can design bedside lamps in the shape of the Red Tower from empty washing-up liquid bottles. There are no limits to their creativity.

Children's tour with Robi Robot
Holiday children experience machines in operation and can try their hand at various stations.

On a discovery tour with Robi
7 and 9 April, from 12 to 1 p.m. each day
Robi Robot takes you on an exciting tour of the museum and shows the large machines in action. Technology can also be playfully explored at hands-on stations.

First sewing, then cuddling
7 and 9 April, from 1.30 to 4 p.m. each day
In this workshop, children can make their own little cuddly toy - either with a sewing machine or by hand.

German SPIELEmuseum
The Chemnitz Games Museum will be open on 2, 4, 5, 11 and 12 April from 1 to 6 pm and from 7 to 10 April from 11 am to 6 pm.
There will be a games night on 10 April from 6 pm to 1 am.
Admission costs five euros per person.
Swimming pools
On the Easter weekend (Good Friday, 3 April to Easter Monday, 6 April), only the Stadtbad and Bernsdorfer Bad are open.
City pool

25-metre hall and leisure hall (with fun and games on the aqua course): 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Gablenz indoor swimming pool is only open on 4 and 5 April from 10 am to 3 pm.

Eggtive - Easter egg hunt with GPS
5 and 6 April, from 11 am to 6 pm
In addition to the geocaching Easter egg hunt, guests can look forward to bouncy fun, a Segway course with obstacles, giant letters for cool photo activities and other various creative activities.
Three hazelnuts for Kasper
5 April, from 11 am and 3 pm
In the puppet theatre by the "Cornelia Fritzsche" puppet theatre, Princess Annegret is to get married and Kasper wants to become king.

The ugly duckling

The Ugly Duckling is a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Published in 1843, it still invites us today to question the supposed ideals and norms of others and to stand up for each other.

At the Ark at eight

Three penguins secretly smuggle their surplus friend onto Noah's ark and create chaotic but heart-warming adventures during the Flood.

On the Easter weekend, the Schauplatz Eisenbahn invites you to visit the driver's cab, take a ride on the light railway, visit the model railway layout and much more.
For children, there are Easter craft activities, Easter bunny rides and "The hunt for the golden egg", while the SchauplatzExpress runs between Frankenberger Straße and the engine shed.

Guided tour for children - The missing Easter egg
7 April, 2 and 4 pm
For the first time, children are invited on an exciting discovery tour behind the scenes of the Stadthalle. Together we will take a look into otherwise hidden corners and learn lots of interesting and fun facts about the building. But watch out: The Easter Bunny has lost some Easter eggs in the Stadthalle! During the tour, the children embark on a fun Easter egg hunt. Those who find all the hidden pictures at the end can look forward to a little surprise from the Easter bunny.
