Lost and found

Have you lost or found something? Then you can contact the lost property office of the City of Chemnitz. This is where lost property from the Chemnitz city area is collected, registered and - if possible - returned to the owner.
Lost property is kept for up to 6 months and then auctioned off on certain dates if the owner does not come forward.
Have you lost something?
If you have lost something in Chemnitz, the lost property office may be able to help you. Lost property is usually handed in or reported to the lost property office. If we can identify you as the owner (e.g. in the case of identity documents), we will of course inform you as soon as possible.
You are also welcome to enquire in person, by telephone or by e-mail whether your lost property has been handed in. However, please bear in mind that it can take some time before a lost item is handed in to the lost property office.
In the case of lost property such as keys, glasses, umbrellas etc., it is preferable to visit the lost property office in person rather than by telephone, as these items are difficult to describe over the phone.
The storage period in the lost property office begins when the find is reported and lasts six months. After this period, the lost property will be handed over to the finder, provided the finder has asserted any rights to the property. Lost property that has not been handed over to an authorised recipient after six months will be auctioned or otherwise disposed of after prior official announcement.
