Monument Day 2024 on 8 September

Theme "True Signs. Contemporary witnesses of history"

The theme set by the German Foundation for Monument Protection this year once again offered plenty of room for interpretation.

What are the landmarks in our city that are worthy of being labelled as monuments?

Usually it is buildings that catch our eye. Often they are also preserved symbols/monuments of past historical events that characterise the cityscape or the city skyline to this day. And let's not forget the archaeological findings that never cease to amaze us. They are all witnesses to history. Go on a search with us and let us surprise you.

A look back

Since 2022, there has once again been a regular Heritage Day with open monuments and churches.

The Open Monument Days in 2020 and 2021 were largely held digitally due to the coronavirus pandemic.
