The path to good air quality

With the Clean Air Plan, which was last updated in 2011, the city of Chemnitz laid the foundation for a sustainable improvement in air quality and the reduction of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) pollution. The measures adopted by the city council are proving successful:
- the annual average NO2 concentration has been below the limit since 2017,
- the annual mean value for particulate matter concentration has been undercut since 2015
- and the maximum number of exceedance days per year has not been reached since 2015.
As a result, an update of the clean air plan and the associated decision on further measures became obsolete. Chemnitz has good air quality in accordance with the limit values.
Overviews on the development of air quality
The overviews show the values from two measuring stations. One measuring station is located on Leipziger Straße, which is characterised by traffic. The second measuring station near Hans-Link-Straße represents the centre of Chemnitz.
