The Chemnitz 2025 review in pictures
On 20 December 2024, the intervention area "Former Altchemnitz River Baths" was completed as part of the Capital of Culture project "City by the River". The result is a versatile public green space with a pedestrian bridge.

The Chemnitz Industrial Museum began the year with an extraordinary exhibition: In
"John Cage. Museumcircle", over 40 museums from the Capital of Culture region showed pieces
randomly determined and just as randomly assigned to specific places in the exhibition space.

For her exhibition "Mitgliederversammlung", Maria Sturm brought together people from dozens of
garage yards together. The photographer took portraits of 164 people in 2024. The exhibition was on display in Chemnitz shops and at the Garage Campus.

The first workshops for the "Dancing Neighbours" began in January. The project brought
older and younger people together, with amateurs and professionals dancing together. The
Dancing Neighbours had many performances, including in the Saxon State Parliament and at the
Kosmos Festival (photo).

The State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz was the first museum to open its special exhibition for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. With "Silberglanz & Kumpeltod", an exhibition about mining, the smac reached a record 43,000 visitors.
