Chemnitz celebrated Europe from 6 to 10 May. Part of Europe Week was the three-day twin city conference, which was attended by guests from seven of Chemnitz's twin cities - Tampere, Düsseldorf, Łódź, Kirjiat Bialik, Ljubljana, Manchester and Timbuktu. They presented contributions to the international work of their respective cities (photo left, Franziska Wöllner). At the commemorative event "Europe - remembering and thinking ahead", the city of Chemnitz remembered the end of the Second World War 80 years earlier (photo right, Igor Pastierovic).
