School biology centre

In the Chemnitz Botanical Garden, teachers from the Chemnitz Regional Office for Schools and Education offer numerous teaching events for nature-based and interdisciplinary knowledge transfer. Most of this work is carried out in groups, with the involvement of teachers from the schools. In addition, many biology teachers use the facility's facilities to organise lessons and project days independently.
Registration of events
Events for the 2025/2026 school year can be registered until Tuesday, 12 August 2025.
Offers for primary schools
Experiencing, understanding and protecting nature - this is the motto under which pupils experience nature here. It's much more interesting to feed and observe the chickens, sheep or rabbits yourself than to just talk about them in the classroom. And anyone who really wants to learn about wild, medicinal and aromatic plants will memorise them much better if they have seen, felt, sniffed or perhaps even tasted them in nature. Chemnitz schools without their own school garden can organise their lessons here in the Botanical Garden's school garden.

Offers for secondary schools and grammar schools
With this offer, the School Biology Centre supports all biology teachers at secondary schools and grammar schools. The topics are aligned with the new curriculum. In addition to the programmes for compulsory lessons and compulsory electives, project days are offered on specific topics.
With illustrative examples and opportunities for investigation and observation in nature, events can be held at the school biology centre that are difficult to realise in schools.
In order to ensure that pupils have particularly intensive contact with nature, classes are usually divided and the accompanying teacher takes on some of the tasks involved in the lessons.
