Mobile youth work
Mobile youth work/streetwork is a form of youth social work in accordance with Section 13 SGB VIII for the social integration of young people who are in need of increased support to compensate for social disadvantages or to overcome individual impairments.
Three mobile youth work projects are funded by the City of Chemnitz.
The work of these projects primarily reaches young people who are marginalised and stigmatised or at risk of being marginalised; those seeking training and employment, school dropouts, socially disadvantaged children and young people, those prone to violence, drug users and those for whom streets and squares are of central importance as a place to live.
With its networking activities, mobile youth work has become an indispensable link between the community, its residents, local politics, schools, the police and justice system as well as organisations in the world of work.
There are currently three project organisers offering mobile youth work in eight different districts of Chemnitz.
