Chemnitz Christmas Market 2026

The City of Chemnitz is organising the Chemnitz Christmas Market from 27 November to 23 December 2026 on the Markt/Neumarkt/Rosenhof/ Innere Klosterstraße to the church entrance.

Sales hours:

140 permits will be issued.

• Up to 62 spaces for traders' own wooden huts
• 7 spaces for fairground businesses
• up to 35 wooden huts of 7 m² in size for a usage fee from the City of Chemnitz
• up to 35 wooden huts of 10 m² in size for a user fee from the City of Chemnitz
• 1 wooden hut in the size of 7 m² for daily use by charitable applicants

Conditions of participation

• Food is sold exclusively from wooden huts.
• Food and drinks may only be served with uniformly designed reusable crockery, which is provided in the form of plates, cups and bowls for a hire fee.
• All crockery must be washed at a central washing-up station. A prerequisite for this is the conclusion of a separate dishwashing contract with the operator of the dishwashing centre, which must be concluded before the approval notice is issued.
• The use of gas appliances is generally not permitted. An exemption authorisation may be granted for the preparation of food on application. The operator must have a qualification certificate for the proper operation of a liquid gas system.
• Participation in a central voucher system is mandatory.
  (Information on the procedure for this will be issued to participants in the course of the year).
  

Applications

Interested parties should send their completed application using the form to the City of Chemnitz, Ordnungsamt - Abt. Polizeirecht, Ordnungsrecht, Märkte, 09106 Chemnitz by 30 April 2026 (date of receipt).

Participation in the selection procedure will only take place if the following application documents have been submitted in full to the City of Chemnitz Public Order Office by 30 April 2026 (date of receipt)

1. Fully completed and signed form
   
2. Photo of the hut/showman's business or meaningful, assessable design proposal for the decorated hut/showman's business in the case of a new acquisition or newly provided city-owned hut,
   
3. Proof of non-profit, charitable or ecclesiastical purposes within the meaning of Part 2, Section 3 of the German Fiscal Code (AO) for the use of the charitable hut.
   
4. Signed form for proof of regionality (if points are to be awarded for the aspect of regionality).
   
5. Each application should be submitted for only one offer at a time; in the case of an application for several offers, the application will be allocated to one offer. The application documents are to be stapled using a file folder only and without a file folder. The photos should not be laminated.

Authorisations

1. Admission is granted in accordance with the guidelines governing the selection procedure for admission to the Chemnitz Christmas Market (Chemnitz Christmas Market Selection Guidelines in the version valid at the time of the event).
   
2. The event, the admission of participants and the relevant cost decisions are governed by the:
   - Chemnitz Market Statutes
   - Chemnitz Christmas Market Selection Guidelines and
   - Statutes of the City of Chemnitz on the levying of fees for the use of market areas of the City of Chemnitz
   in the version valid at the time of the event (in this respect, it is strongly recommended to consult the website of the City of Chemnitz in good time and repeatedly if necessary).
