Chemnitz Christmas Market 2025

The city of Chemnitz is organising the Chemnitz Christmas Market from 28 November to 23 December 2025 on the Markt/Neumarkt/Rosenhof/Jakobikirchplatz/Innere Klosterstraße to Jakobikirchplatz.

28.11.2025:Fri 16 to 21 hrs
29.11. - 23.12.2025:Mon - Thu 11 am to 8 pm
Fri - Sat 10 am to 9 pm
Sun 10 am to 8 pm


145 permits will be issued.

  • 34 spaces for traders' own wooden huts
  • 6 spaces for fairground businesses
  • 69 wooden huts in the size of 7 m² for a usage fee from the City of Chemnitz
  • 35 wooden huts in the size of 10 m² for a user fee from the City of Chemnitz
  • 1 wooden hut in the size of 7 m² for daily use by charitable applicants

Conditions of participation

  • The sale takes place exclusively from wooden huts. The City of Chemnitz will provide wooden huts with floor areas of 7 m² and 10 m² for the selection procedure. § These huts will be allocated by the City of Chemnitz for a fee in accordance with Section 4 of the Statutes of the City of Chemnitz on the Levying of Fees for the Use of Market Areas in the City of Chemnitz in conjunction with the Annex to the List of Fees No. 4.1.6. There is no entitlement to own huts.
  • Food and drinks may only be served with uniformly designed reusable crockery.
  • Standardised plates, cups and bowls will be provided for a hire fee.
  • The crockery must be washed at a central washing-up station. The dishwashing contract must be concluded before the allocation notice is issued.
  • The use of gas appliances is generally not permitted. An exemption authorisation may be granted for the preparation of food on request. The operator must have proof of qualification for the proper operation of a liquid gas system.
  • 2 Authorisations can be applied for on a weekly basis.

Applications

Interested parties should send their completed application using the form to the City of Chemnitz, Ordnungsamt - Abt. Polizeirecht, Ordnungsrecht, Märkte, 09106 Chemnitz by 30 April 2025 (date of receipt).

The applicant will take part in the selection procedure if the following application documents have been submitted in full to the City of Chemnitz Public Order Office by 30 April 2025 (date of receipt ):

  1. Fully completed and signed form
  2. Photo of the hut/showman's business or a meaningful, assessable design proposal for the decorated hut/showman's business in the case of a new acquisition or newly provided city-owned hut,
  3. Proof of non-profit, charitable or ecclesiastical purposes within the meaning of Part 2, Section 3 of the German Fiscal Code (AO) for the use of the charitable hut.
  4. Signed form for proof of regionality (if points are to be awarded for the aspect of regionality).
  5. Each application should be submitted for only one offer at a time; in the case of an application for several offers, the application will be allocated to one offer. The application documents must be stapled using a file folder only and without a file folder. The photos should not be laminated.

Authorisations

  1. Admission is granted in accordance with the guidelines governing the selection procedure for admission to the Chemnitz Christmas Market (Chemnitz Christmas Market Selection Guidelines in the version valid at the time of the event).
  2. The event, the admission of participants and the relevant cost decisions are governed by the:
    - Chemnitz Market Statutes
    - Chemnitz Christmas Market Selection Guidelines and
    - Statutes of the City of Chemnitz on the levying of fees for the use of market areas of the City of Chemnitz
    in the version valid at the time of the event (in this respect, it is strongly recommended to consult the website of the City of Chemnitz in good time and repeatedly if necessary).
  3. 2 Authorisations can be applied for on a weekly basis.
