On 1 August, the city of Chemnitz will launch a public expression of interest procedure for the reallocation of the Ratskeller in order to turn the traditional restaurant space in the historic town hall into a lively place in the heart of the city centre once again. With its central location, historic architecture and well-known name, the Ratskeller offers great potential. The space is currently closed. It is to be revitalised and become a centre of attraction for Chemnitz residents and visitors to the city.
We are looking for creative, viable and high-quality catering concepts.
Interested parties can submit their concepts to the City of Chemnitz at www.chemnitz.de/ratskeller by 31 August 2025. All relevant information on the procedure and the general conditions can also be found there.
Once the expression of interest period has expired, suitable applicants will be selected for further discussions on possible tenancy.
The process is being initiated by the City of Chemnitz's business division, which aims to provide an impetus for city centre development with the new award. The aim is to find a gastronomic concept that does justice to the historic location while also fulfilling modern requirements in terms of quality, atmosphere and profitability. "With the Ratskeller, we have the opportunity to revive a place with great tradition and charisma - and thus contribute to the revitalisation of the city centre," says Silvana Bergk, Head of the Business Division.
