Exhibition in the Chemnitz Botanical Garden, Leipziger Straße 147

„Ein Farn, der kein Farn ist“ Tanacetum vulgare L. – Rainfarn. Seine gefiederten Blätter, die denen des Wurmfarns ähneln, führten vermutlich zu seinem Namen Rainfarn.

A new exhibition in the Chemnitz Botanical Garden is currently dedicated to the plants of the roadside. This habitat and its well-known, hidden and endearing plant beauties are presented and some of the species found in Chemnitz are portrayed. The photographs were taken by Cornelia Dörr.

Visitors and interested parties are cordially invited. The exhibition is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 30 September 2025 and is accessible free of charge.

Plant communities next to our roads and paths are often very adaptable and robust. The species spectrum includes both native and immigrant, foreign species and shows an impressive diversity. The colourfulness and variety of forms transform even the most boring roadsides into dynamic habitats that invite you to marvel. While the beauty of cultivated gardens and parks is often admired, it is worth taking a look at the resilient "wild ones" along roads and paths.

The exhibition was conceived by the Chemnitz Botanical Garden Association and sponsored by the Chemnitz-Nord Citizens' Platform.
