Strong together against online hate

Children and Youth Commissioner: Event to mark International Youth Day - launch of the series: "Strong in everyday digital life - safe online together"

On Tuesday, 12 August - International Youth Day - from 4 to 6 p.m., interested young people aged ten and over are invited to an open information and exchange event entitled #NoHate - Strong against cyberbullying. The joint event organised by Chemnitz Police Headquarters, the CVJM Computerclub e. V. and the City of Chemnitz Children and Youth Officer will take place at the CVJM Computerclub e. V., Am Laubengang 15.

The following questions will be discussed: What actually counts as cyberbullying? What can I do if I am affected myself? How can I support others? And: How can I protect myself from online attacks? Young people are invited to find out more, ask questions, share experiences and empower each other. The aim is to raise awareness of respectful interaction online and provide practical tips for greater safety in the digital space.

Young people, parents and professionals are increasingly reporting how much online hate and targeted cyberbullying affects children and young people and how deep the marks left by digital attacks can be. What starts out as harmless fun can quickly become hurtful and dangerous: Insults in class chats, nasty comments on Instagram or TikTok or the spreading of embarrassing pictures. Cyberbullying is a serious issue that affects many young people.

The #NoHate - Strong against cyberbullying event marks the start of a new series organised by the City of Chemnitz's children and youth officers: "Strong in everyday digital life - safe online together".

With the support of experts, the series offers insights, guidance and support to strengthen digital skills among young people and parents.

Two further events are offered for parents:
