On 27 September from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the motto "Lively neighbourhood"

On Saturday, 27 September, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Environmental Centre invites you to take part in an exploratory tour along the Chemnitz River under the motto "Lively Neighbourhood". This will take place as part of the Capital of Culture programme "Lively Neighbourhood" (pun intended) and is intended to give participants an insight into the lively neighbourhood along and in the river. The start is at Apfelpark, Dittersdorfer Straße 35, the destination will be the intervention area of the former Altchemnitz river baths.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is required by 26 September on 0371 488 6177 or by email to umweltzentrum(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.

On the approximately three-kilometre guided hike along the Chemnitz, participants will discover the ecosystems of the floodplain and river with their diverse flora and fauna as well as interesting historical and current facts about the city on the river and the river in the city. Weather permitting, a picnic is planned for around 12.30 pm on the newly built wooden decks at the end point. You can bring your own blankets and snacks.

As the event is not a circular walk, it is possible to travel to and from the event by public transport: The starting point at Apfelpark, Dittersdorfer Straße 35, can be reached via the "Ikarus" stop on tram line 4 and the "Wenzel-Verner-Straße" stop on bus line 52. The "Altchemnitz-Center" stop is around 800 metres away from the end of the route on lines C11 and 53.
