European Mountain Parade
Almost 1,100 mining sisters and brothers from regional and national mining brotherhoods, and in this Capital of Culture year also from other European countries, took part in the Great Mining Parade in Chemnitz.
They presented themselves to the thousands of spectators along the parade route, which led along the Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße back to the theatre square, in an impressive procession.
At the closing ceremony on the theatre square, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze welcomed the participants from the mountain brotherhoods and the guests. The musicians from 10 Saxon mining music corps then played together. The finale was traditionally the miners' song, the five verses of which were sung loudly by the guests on the theatre square.
The next mining parade will take place on 28 November 2026.
