The plan is to fundamentally expand all traffic areas, renovate the sewerage system, connect the district heating system and renew the drinking water pipes and street lighting in sections. This is a coordinated construction project between the City of Chemnitz's traffic and civil engineering department, the waste disposal company of the City of Chemnitz (ESC) and the utility company eins einergie in sachsen.

The section between Palmstraße and Philippstraße will therefore be fully closed to traffic until the end of 2026. The public car parks will not be available during the construction work. Pedestrians will be guided safely past the construction site at all times. Access to neighbouring properties is guaranteed at all times. The aim is to minimise disruption for all residents.

The total construction costs amount to approx. 2.4 million euros. The road construction portion amounts to around 1.3 million euros. The company Krause & Co. Hoch-, Tief- und Anlagenbau GmbH from Neukirchen/Erzgeb. is carrying out the project.
