Construction work on Bernsdorf outdoor pool
New construction of a 50-metre swimming pool and a multi-purpose pool
Construction work on the renovation of the outdoor pool area at Bernsdorf Bad began at the end of February 2024.
The project includes the construction of a new 50-metre swimming pool and a multi-purpose pool with a wave slide. The existing buildings will also be renovated and a new functional building for toilets and changing rooms will be constructed.
According to the current plans, the work is scheduled to run until summer 2025.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building
in the federal programme: Renovation of municipal facilities Sport . Youth . Culture programme.
Bernsdorf baths
On 20 September 2024, the Bernsdorfer Bad in Chemnitz was officially opened after extensive renovation work.
The modernised facility now includes a 25-metre swimming pool with six lanes, which is suitable for competitions and water polo. There is also a teaching pool, a diving pool with a 3-metre tower and 1-metre board and a paddling pool for children.

Current construction progress
April 2025
In the outdoor pool area, the pools are now being cleaned and prepared for the final pool water filling. The planting work is in full swing and the first new beds are being planted. The laying of the lawns has also begun.
February 2025
The new swimming pools have now been installed in the outdoor pool area and restoration work is beginning on the outdoor facilities. This means that the paved areas around the new 50 metre pool are already being laid and finishing work is underway in the buildings.
October 2024
The new 50-metre outdoor pool has been completed and the new leisure pool is under construction.
The restoration of the outdoor facilities in the pool area is also already underway.
August 2024
The 50-metre pool in the outdoor pool area of the Bernsdorf pool has already been fully installed.
July 2024
In the outdoor pool area, the 50-metre stainless steel outdoor pool is already clearly visible and new underground pipes are being laid. The base plate for the new functional building has been constructed and the renovation of the existing building has begun.
