Are you coming down? - Reading stories on the playground

Chemnitz City Library: Series of events for children and families - start on 4 June, 5 p.m., Wiesenstraße 5 playground

Out of everyday life, into adventure: with the event series "Are you coming down? - Reading stories in the playground", Chemnitz City Library invites children and families to enjoy special reading moments in the open air. Participation is free of charge.

The dates are:

  • Thursday, 4 June, 5 p.m. Playground Wiesenstraße 5
  • Tuesday, 9 June, 5 p.m. Playground Reitbahnstraße 42
  • Wednesday, 17 June, 5 p.m. Playground Annenstraße 38

If you like listening to exciting and funny stories, this is the place for you. Staff from the city library will read from lovingly illustrated picture books together with dedicated volunteers from the Friends' Association and take listeners of all ages into the fantastic world of letters and words.
A cosy atmosphere is provided: the team brings blankets, cushions and colouring pictures directly to the playground on the "Lara" cargo bike. This turns every appointment into a relaxed meeting with stories, encounters and time together.

The project was initiated by Amelie Bendig. She has been doing her voluntary service at Chemnitz City Library for nine months and is bringing a breath of fresh air to open-air reading promotion with her idea.

An event organised by Chemnitz City Library with the kind support of the GGG.
