City council adopts new fee schedule for the sports boarding school

At its meeting today, the City Council approved the new fee regulations for the City of Chemnitz boarding school. It comes into force for the new school year. The adjustment of the fee schedule, which has been in force since 2022, was necessary in particular due to a significant increase in personnel, energy and operating costs.

In future, the monthly fee for care and accommodation, which is borne by the legal guardians, will be 350.18 euros (previously 259.86 euros). Families can receive subsidies under certain conditions. The city of Chemnitz will continue to cover the majority of the costs for each boarding school place, which will be 428 euros. This corresponds to 55 per cent of the total costs per place and month.

The use of washing machines and dryers in the boarding school will be newly regulated. In future, billing will be based on demand using a coin system. A fee of 2.50 euros will be charged per use. Daily contracts will remain possible. This offer is aimed in particular at trial students and sports students in block or rotational lessons. The daily rate will increase from 20 euros to 25.94 euros.

A total of 182 places are available at the sports boarding school, including barrier-free living areas. In addition to pupils from sports schools, young athletes with dual careers and competitive sports students also use the facilities. Support is provided all year round by socio-educational specialists. The sports boarding school is part of the Chemnitz School Sports Centre and enables young competitive athletes to combine school, training and competitions. The sports high school and sports secondary school are recognised as "elite schools of sport".
