Environmental Centre publishes brochure to promote nature experiences for children

To mark this year's World Children's Day, the municipal environmental centre is publishing the brochure "Lass' mal raus gehen! - Promoting nature experiences for children". It is aimed at adults and explains what is important so that children can fulfil their curiosity in nature, interact with it and experience the positive effects of nature experiences.

What does snow actually taste like, how does a snail feel on your hand, who is that chirping? Children want to explore and discover precisely these small and large wonders of nature. Almost incidentally, these experiences of nature also support a healthy and social upbringing. And vice versa, early contact with nature is also crucial for creating and strengthening an awareness of nature.

It is up to adults to recognise, maintain and, if necessary, develop such spaces for contact with nature. It is also important to utilise, preserve or create certain occasions. Creative approaches increase the effectiveness of nature experiences.

The brochure shows, among other things, how parents, grandparents, educators and adults who actively shape the city can promote nature experiences for children. A small card game provides a variety of suggestions for encounters with nature in the areas of leisure and education.

The brochure is available for download at Environmental Centre - Let's go outside, and also as a printed copy in the displays at the City Hall (Markt 1), the Technical City Hall (Friedensplatz 1) and the Environmental Centre (Henriettenstraße 5).
