The traffic trial on Bahnstraße in the Schönau district ends this month as planned.
The traffic trial was scheduled to run from May 2024 to May 2026. It was tested whether a section-by-section narrowing of the carriageway cross-section could reduce through traffic. Planters with suitable greenery were used for the narrowing. The basis for this was the traffic law order (VAO) of 6 May 2024 in accordance with Section 45 (1 to 3) StVO.
The removal of the planters and the demarcation of the borders are currently being prepared by the Traffic and Civil Engineering Office and the City of Chemnitz's building yard.
The Traffic and Civil Engineering Office will analyse and evaluate the traffic trial in the course of 2026 and then publish the results.
